Kentucky Derby First-Place Finisher Loses After Historic Disqualification


For the first time in the history of the Kentucky Derby, a competitor that finished in first place was disqualified and forced to give up the title of winner.

Maximum Security crossed the finish line first but was disqualified for impeding other horses’ paths during the race. In his place, Country House, who finished second, was deemed the official winner of the Kentucky Derby.
